Dogs are my passion but I love horses and rarely get a chance to interact with them anymore.

Really wonderful to see you overcoming your fear, horses are such magnificent creatures and having grown up around them I think nothing of hugging and talking to them as I do with my dogs. Your Christmas looks and sounds like fun, mine was very quiet but still enjoyable :-)

I was a horse crazy kid - my parents despaired of me ever wanting anything but a horse - hence the herd of Breyer models, two signed Marguerite Henry books and hunter riding lessons in junior high.
I don't see them as big dogs - I don't see a correlation at all. But, I didn't grow up with them; I grew up with cats and dogs, one at a time.
I don't have horses now and miss them terribly. I love my dogs but horses speak to my soul. A friend has one she wants me to start riding; hope to do so soon!
Congrats on working through your fears. He is a lovely horse - big platter feet, no doubt :). Oh, memory lane....

I am going riding tonight for the first time in a longtime. I hope it goes well but I do worry about the effect of a fall on this 56 yr old body....as opposed to my teen years. But one of my new years resolutions is to ride again..hopefully every week. I will let you know how this works out for me. I am hoping for " just a big dog" repoire!!!

Horses are definitely large animals that need to be taken seriously. I've never really been around them except for the one time I went riding. Beautiful and strong.

WOW! he is HUGE! and good for you for getting out there... i can imagine how nervous they would make you. but they can be really sweet animals, too. full of power but so full of grace.
