One Thing At A Time

I've always been the kind of person who takes on a lot. I like it really. I like being that person who gets things done, that person you can rely on. I like being busy and learning new things.

Sometimes though, I take on too much.

For those that may not have noticed, I haven't been posting here as regularly, I've been slacking on updates for the facebook page, and I haven't been commenting on other blogs very often. Those are seriously deadly sins in the world of blogging. And in the land of Kate, I don't like it much either.

What's been keeping me away? A healthy dose of EVERYTHING. Work picked up. Family came into town. I'm working on one two three too many different projects for my rescue group. I've hit that place where I'm starting to hate what I have going on even though I should really be enjoying each thing individually.

Now that I've hit that place though, I know it's time to ease up on myself and tackle some of these projects one at a time to get them wrapped up.

That means that it might be a little sporadic around here for a little while longer. Some weeks I might post once (like last week) and some weeks I might post three or four times (like this week). Maybe I'll even share some of the things I'm working on if I can.

So I hope you'll bear with me and understand that I'll be back to normal soon. In the meantime, I'll be more envious than ever of my dogs' not-so-demanding schedules...

  1. I feel ya! I've been slacking too... sins in the blog world. Feel so guilty! Don't worry, we'll all be here. Get those projects wrapped up and schedule a day of nothing (seriously! I doubt it will happen but don't say I didn't suggest it!)

  2. Some is better than none. Feed the sharks swimming closest to the boat and we'll be here with the feeding frenzie calms down.

  3. We are always our worst critics...I totally understand the guilt but good for you for recognizing that you need to take a step back. We will still be here when life calms down for you! And I so wish I had my dogs' lives somedays!!

  5. That's sort of what my past two weeks have been like too. Just try to take it easy on the stuff that doesn't need to get done right away, and give yourself some time to sit and relax.

  6. We will continue to check in daily and be happy for what we get! At least the things keeping you busy are worthy of dedicated time! Always love the photos of your dogs piled up and sleeping.

  8. Oh to be a pampered pet, that would be the life, right?
    Too bad we're human.
Do what you have to do so you can do what you want to do.

  9. Yes, we are so similar! (Maybe that's why we're blog friends).
I too do not feel fulfilled unless I have so many things going on. Though right now my clinical hours for my grad school are killing me (or at least I have become very physically ill from the hours involved and the amount of books I have to carry on). We know you're here. See you when things aren't as hectic!

  14. I was thinking the same thing today. Taking 17 credits, working 2 jobs, blogging, two book clubs, walking club, friend's weddings, scrapbooking...la la la...I think we are all very similar, Type A personalities. While I LOVE being busy, I am the first to vulunteer for something, and taking things on, it also at times drives me nuts, and recently I feel unhappy and I feel as though I dont give everything my all. Which may be why I skipped two days this week...we totally understand and will love when you update!

  15. Dogs have the life, as do cats. I am finding it hard to update the blog as well, too many things going on.

  17. Thank goodness it's not just me! I've felt awful since things fell apart around our house and I couldn't keep up with my online friends. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with your posts and wordless photos more often going forward....
