Aside from Heidi's short freelancing gigs, they never have to go work. They sleep in late and lounge around all day wherever they please. Meanwhile I grumble and groan every morning when I have to wake up before the sun rises.
They eat only the best high quality food and have it served to them twice daily by their doting servants (ahem, that would be me and Mr. T). I'm lucky if I remember to bring something for lunch when I go to work.
They have extensive wardrobes, full of high-end doggie luxury items to keep them warm in winter. While I certainly own a winter coat and sweaters to keep me warm, they're definitely not the human equivalent of Martha Stewart's doggie fashion line or the handmade quality of Our Waldo Bungie's tiennots.
My dogs are web-celebrities in their own right. I might write the words on the screen, but I know you're all here just to see their cute smiling faces.
They receive top-notch medical care from the best practitioners. They even have "home nurses" to administer their meds for them as necessary. I don't go to the doctor as regularly as they do and no one has ever hidden yucky pills in peanut butter for me when I have to take them.
So yeah, I want to be one of my dogs. Seems like a pretty good gig to me...

i hear you! i feel the same way. it is good to be a dog at my house. :)
ReplyDeleteI totally wish this every day! And Heidi's smiling face? Quite possibly the best picture of all time ever.
ReplyDeleteMy momma says this everyyyyyy day!

I hear you! I say this quite often, especially as I am gearing up for work and Sophie is still snoring away.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing, such a good call!
ReplyDeletei'm sorry, but i have to say it again: i covet your heidi. the pink schnoz! ahhh. adorable.
ReplyDeletealso loving the idea of hiding human meds in peanut butter. also think that cold medicine should somehow come in "milkshake" flavor.
I agree. Maybe we could develop a line of milkshake flavored medicines? We'll be rich!!
DeleteOh I say the same thing all the time

No doubt, eh? Every time I have to get up off the couch and head to work, leaving my dog curled up on my blanket, life just seems so unfair.
ReplyDeleteYou're also totally right in that while I do enjoy your writing, if it weren't for the dog photos, I probably wouldn't know your blog existed. But I am sure that's the same for all of us! ;-)
We know the truth. This is the dogs' world and we're just here to serve them ;)
DeleteI say this all the time!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. Though Parker and Skye get their fuzzy butts dragged out of bed with me every morning to go to work, they still get to sleep in the car, sleep in the lobby, then go out and play with a bunch of dogs all morning. Why is the term 'work like a dog' again?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good plan to me. They even get their very own human pillows! (says she from under a pile of fur)
ReplyDeleteI think of this often when I have to drag them out of bed to go out and eat breakfast in the morning. They let out groans and moans while they stretch as if this is SUCH an inconvenience. Then immediately race back to bed and let out the final sigh before snoozing the day away. Rough life ...
ReplyDeleteI think maybe I wanna be one of your dogs too! ;)
ReplyDeleteSo true! We always say that Zoe & the cats eat better than we do. They definitely have the life. :)
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about my cats. I know they sleep in my bed during the day while I'm at work. Or, on sunny days they're sprawled out on the floor sun bathing. The lives our pets lead is definitely one I wish I had.
ReplyDeleteI want to be one of your dogs, too! I think they have a better wardrobe than I do.
ReplyDeleteThis was my family's motto growing up - we used to say that if we were ever reincarnated, that we hoped to come back as a dog in our family.
