Sofa So Good

Get the post title? Like "So Far So Good"... but with "Sofa" instead of "So Far." See what I did with that? A joke's not funny if you have to explain it, right? Sigh... my dreams of being a comedienne aren't looking too promising...

After lots of saving, deliberation, more deliberation, and then waiting, the new sofa is finally here! And it's HUGE!!! We ended up choosing the Crate & Barrel 93" Lounge Slipcover sofa. The size and slipcover won our hearts over and when it went on sale we closed our eyes and swiped our credit card (making big purchases will never get easy for me!). Two short weeks later and it's all ours.

You got a peek of the sofa in yesterday's post since I was sitting in front of part of it, but here are some shots of the entire thing in our basement family room. Right now the old sofa is still down there (gotta freecycle that thing!) so just try to ignore that. Although, you can sort of see in these pics how the new sofa dwarfs the old one, haha.

Long-term the sofa isn't going to stay in that position. T and I are talking about how the furniture will orient in this room but we're still trying to figure that out. Right now the old sofa and treadmill are taking up a lot of space so that's hard to do. In addition to adios-ing the old sofa, we've decided to sell the treadmill (yes!). You can see the edge of the treadmill in the top photo (it's just barely out of the frame for the other pictures). We just don't use it. Plus it's ugly and the extra money would go a long way. I hope we're able to sell it soon.

After the sofa was delivered on Saturday, Mel and I settled in for some prime movie watching/cuddling. Mel doesn't snuggle often, but when she does she doesn't do it halfway! Thanks to the super deep cushions, she stayed smooshed up behind me for a good long time. :-)

In fact, all of the dogs have given the sofa their seal of approval:

The only dilemma the new sofa presents is it's size, lol. It dwarfs EVERYTHING. Finding a couple chairs that don't look ridiculous next to it may take some time, but the sofa is so comfy it's worth searching for chairs that work. Now that the sofa is in, I can start focusing on the next big things to do in this room: curtains, rug, chairs, furniture layout, DIYing a coffee table and/or ottoman, and working out an entertainment unit/TV stand. I can't wait to see how it comes together.

  1. My pit bull, Bella, totally does the face-moosh against my leg/hip too! I think she does it to keep her beak warm. :)
