A fuzzy green monster that I just wanted to smooch.

I'm a sucker for the brown nosed dogs!
Backing up a bit... this weekend we celebrated Pit Bull Awareness Day!!
In honor of the big day, my rescue group held a big event a local park to celebrate the pitties we all love so much. And since it's just about that time of year, we held a costume contest
I was "working" at the event (it was really tough to have to go around and meet and greet all these cuties... oh woe is me *cough*not*cough), so unfortunately I couldn't bring any of my pups. It just would have been too hard to get around everywhere if I'd brought one of the three musketeers with me. I definitely got my pittie fix for the day though!
You've already seen my favorite (Mr. Fuzzy Green Monster Pittie above), and here are some of the other costume highlights:

I don't think I've seen so many pitties in one place before! It was so fun to see everyone. I loved talking with people and learning more about their stories and how much they support the work that the group is doing. But of course the highlight of the day was seeing the dogs in goofy costumes. There's really no way to beat that!
Anyone else celebrate Pit Bull Awareness Day this weekend? Or if you missed the day, do you plan on dressing up your dogs for Halloween?

What cute and creative costumes! I love it! We celebrated NPBAD by getting Ginger microchipped and then we dressed her up in a tutu and took her to my alma mater's alumni BBQ competition where Ginger got tons of attention and even some bites of BBQ from sympathetic admirers (and, cough cough, her foster mama). When do we get to hear about Boo's new family?!?!
ReplyDeleteLove those pictures!
ReplyDeleteUm, yeah. Pit bulls in costumes are the BEST!!
ReplyDeleteO lord are these cute!!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't get to really celebrate since I was at a flyball tournament all weekend. But, I did torture Koira with painting her like a skeleton for a costume contest! And, she got her next title as well, so I'm proud of my pittie.
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree with you - it doesn't get much cuter than this! But I also agree that the fuzzy green monster wins the prize! LOVE!
ReplyDeleteThat green monster is totally adorable! I used to not be such a fan of dressing up the pooches but I've since come round to it as a fantastic tool for getting attention for foster dogs and making our "scary" breeds extra cute and approachable. Not to mention, it's just plain old fun!
ReplyDeleteMy foster Flower is even hosting her own little costume competition!
I wanna smooch that monster too!

Love the costumes! They are adorable and for a really great cause. Precious pups!
ReplyDeleteI think pitbulls always look so great dressed up! We don't really have anything big in the city, I guess we will just have to plan our own next year.
ReplyDeleteWhile I think Pit Bull in a Poodle's Clothing is my favorite, the embarrassed squirrel looks just like my Téa - if she had ears and would be willing to masquerade as a squirrel.
ReplyDeleteIzzy was a squirrel last year but almost got attacked by a boxer with "high large squirrel prey drive". We're going the safe route this year!
