Her new home is 100% amazing. Everything I could want in a forever family. Her new family has three dogs already and tons of pittie experience. They truly truly love her. They even do lots of animal rescue work...
That's right... We adopted Heidi. We totally foster failed. You might have been able to tell how well she's fit into our house in my Living with Four Dogs post. A&A Friese certainly did...

When I first saw Heidi's picture at the shelter I knew I couldn't let her stay there. At the time I never thought we'd keep her forever, I just knew that I had to save her life. After keeping an eye on her status at the shelter for awhile, I heard that the shelter was full and they were going to be forced to start euthanizing dogs. And since the shelter doesn't adopt out pits directly to the public, they were the first on the list. I couldn't let it happen so I pulled her.

Despite my immediate connection to her, I actually wasn't the one who started arguing to keep her ourselves. I had prepared myself for fostering only, but Mr. T hadn't steeled himself quite so thoroughly... A week into fostering and he was talking about adopting her. One at a time, Heidi won us over.
She's a super special dog, and after lots of thought and consideration we found that we just couldn't give her up. We never set out to have four dogs, but I can't really say I'm regretting it.
Heidi is one of those rare "bomb proof" dogs who can handle anything. She likes all other dogs, cats, kids. She isn't scared of loud noises or rain. She's eager to please and quick to learn. Heidi has it all. We've been talking about taking the Canine Good Citizen test with her and she's already signed up for an advanced obedience/CGC class. Plus, she is a-freaking-dorable.
So, go ahead and call me the crazy dog lady. We have FOUR dogs now, I deserve it. I've come to terms with it. I've embraced it whole-heartedly.
Besides... just look at that face, can you really blame me for it?
Aw! Hahaha. Girl, I dont know how you do it :0) We have two dogs and three cats and sometimes I wanna fall out LOL
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Heidi & her wonderful new family! Sometimes there is nothing you can do to stop it; if it is meant to be, it is meant to be :)
ReplyDeleteYay for Heidi! I know fostering would be so hard for me since I'd want to keep all the dogs. Especially the super duper adorable ones like Heidi :)
ReplyDeleteI KNEW IT!! I KNEW IT!! When you posted about four dogs vs three dogs, I KNEW you were falling fast and hard!!
ReplyDeleteYou'd better keep fostering though-- just pull a dog who you wouldn't want to keep for your own. Something smaller and fluffier, perhaps.
Yeah! congratulations!!!!! She's a doll.
ReplyDeleteAww I wouldn't be able to resist that face either--welcome home Heidi :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new addition ;)

You can't say no to that face. Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your newest addition. You definitely can not say no to that adorable face.
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha! Sucker!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you and Heidi. Four dogs is nothing, don't feel bad. My trainer owns ten. I can't wait to read all about her progress!
Hahaha, got you :). I am so glad you decided to keep her she seems to fit in just flawlessly! And she is absolutely ADORABLE. Maybe she could be a therapy dog or something, the possiblities are just endless with this sweet girl I am sure. Can't wait to read more!
ReplyDeleteAww Kate, good for you! There are many days when I look back and kick myself for not adopting my foster Misty- I just loved that dog so much. But then I wouldn't have Jesse or Blanche, so it worked out I suppose. If anyone can handle four dogs, it's you!
ReplyDeleteShe is so adorable, and selfishly, now I can see her more often myself. I always thought our next pittie would be a white one.
ReplyDeleteAwe congrats! She is seriously adorable! The family I nanny for has 2 pit bulls and I love them both (well maybe not the puppy Bella as much... she kind of eats everything... including dogwood trees... seriously. The whole tree was gone) But they are the sweetest dogs and so good with their kids. The baby can even run into the one and pull on him and his eyes don't even open. Good dogs!
ReplyDeleteThat is WONDERFUL news! Congratulations on your permanent addition! :) She seems so happy with you guys. I definitely give you props for having 4 dogs - I only have two and that's a handful sometimes!
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! What a lucky girl! She is so adorable!!
ReplyDeleteYAY!! She is one lucky girl and adorable too!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! My husband is nervous about the idea of us fostering (we just started volunteering with a rescue group and I mentioned I want to foster) because he thinks I would want to adopt each and every one we fostered. Maybe I won't let him read this post of your... :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh!! She is so cute!!! You have done a wonderful thing!
ReplyDeleteShe is so lucky to have got such a lovely family as yours!!!
Such a sweet face waiting to be covered with kisses. Hard to resist, glad you couldn't. Happy family addition , congratulations !
ReplyDeleteWe as well have 4 dogs so you are not alone! And seriously who could say no to that sweet face! Love it!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! She is lucky to have you guys as her "forever" parents!!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT! It's not often you'll be congratulated for failing so miserably at something, but in this case I think it's well deserved. Hooray for your failed foster experience!!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I thought you might have decided to keep her after reading that post! I knew I couldn't be the only one to fall in love with a foster ;)
