Some blogger templates come with a linkbar at the top. It's not a bad linkbar at all, but there isn't any way to really customize it much. I used to have one at the top of my blog before I redesigned everything (if you remember what that looked like). It certainly does the trick, but I found myself wondering how some other bloggers have crazy-cool looking buttons across the top of their pages.
Did you notice that I used the word "buttons" in that sentence?
Remember my post about how to create buttons for your blog? The linkbar is the exact same thing. Go in and create your buttons. They can look like anything in the whole wide world. Then, and here's the part that made me feel stupid, add a HTML/JavaScript Gadget (just like you did for your other buttons) and .... place the gadget under you header.

And then you'll have your very own custom linkbar across the top of your blog.
So easy right? I definitely did a "why didn't I think of that sooner?!!?" palm to forehead thing when I realized it.
The HTML code is the same as with a regular button, you just want to put it in so that your new buttons are side-by-side. To make it side-by-side, don't hit enter when you enter the code for a new button. It's like one long gigantic line of code. You'll probably want to keep the buttons relatively narrow (but you don't have to, I actually think a blog might look kinda cool with long buttons across the top...), my buttons are 160 wide for example.
Once you have all your pretty buttons coded with links, you'll have a fabulous linkbar to make navigating your blog that much easier.
you are blowing my mind a little bit. you are so tech-savvy!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this!! I'm totally going to try it out!
