Sometimes, you just gotta call it good enough. There are still things I want to do in here, but I think I've hit the point where it's all sprinkles on top of the sundae (that's my weird way of saying I need to start thinking about other rooms in the house).
Way way back in the very beginning the bedroom looked like this.

I had actually forgotten how it was back then until I dug up those photos. It really was fug.
Then, for a time, it looked like this.

It stayed that way until I changed my mind and decided to go in a completely different direction. That's when I decided to use this Lonny bedroom as my inspiration.

Working from this image, I built a new headboard, repainted with Rainwashed, switched out the curtains, and added bamboo blinds along with a few other small accessories. I also finished building my DIY knock-off of Pottery Barn's Stratton Bed, and now the bedroom looks like this.

There are a few things I'd still like to do. Something over that small dresser in the corner, organize those shelves, and possibly do something over the bed. I'm calling room "done-ish" because I've found myself tempted to settle on things that might work, but I don't love, just for the sake of having it completed. I don't want to end up with a space that I feel halfhearted about just to make a fictional deadline though, so this is it. 90% done, but that's good enough for me.
Besides, all of these changes were very tiring.

It's time to enjoy my comfy space for what it is.

You bedroom looks spectacular! I totally love it!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! Good job making it look like your inspiration. You should be so proud!
ReplyDeleteLooks great. That bed is soooo awesome!
ReplyDeleteI really like the middle look, but the newly redesigned room looks great! I love the second angle of the window/wall shelves/dresser. I've considered painting my bedroom rainwashed as well, but I think it might be a little too subdued for me.
ReplyDeleteYou worked some magic there. It looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love the new room, especially that mirror--where did you find it?!
ReplyDeleteA nap on a comfy bed like that sounds great about now :)
I love seeing your progression, and I love the final product; it looks so relaxing! And of course, I love the dog models.
ReplyDeleteWow, you've been doing really great things! Your bedroom looks wonderful, and how cool to be able to say that you've built/painted such big parts of the room.
ReplyDeleteAnd since I'm too lazy to leave 2 comments, congrats on the 4 lbs! That is no small feat! And I love the image. Sooooo true.
KT - The mirror is from Ikea. I posted about it here: http://www.twenty-six-to-life.com/2010/05/hugh-jazz-mirror.html
ReplyDeleteI think it looks beautiful :)

I liked your first re-do, but the Lonny-inspired makeover is beautiful too! Calming and peaceful colors. I can't get over how awesome that bed frame. Love that last picture! My dog would love to sprawl out on that big comfy bed! :)
ReplyDeleteit looks amazing! and i like the term doneish. that is how i feel about pretty much everything in my home. :)
ReplyDeleteso soothing! you can tell, because the pup looks much happier on your bed ;-) you found the perfect wall color!
ReplyDeleteIt's looking great! I agree. Never buy things just so you can be "done."

That headboard is just amazing. I loved the middle design but the last one just looks so comfy to hang out in. And I guess that's the point, huh?
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I love the blue walls and the new headboard! What a difference!
ReplyDeletegorgeous redo! i love the clean, modern look and the soothing colors.
ReplyDelete... but where is the dog crate??
Your bedroom looks amazing, love the drawers under the bed!
ReplyDeleteFunny -- I just picked up Rainwashed for my bedroom, too. :) I was a bit shocked that it was more "greenish" than "turquoise" when I got to Sherwin Williams because all the pics I have seen oline make it appear turquoise. I see yours also looks turquoise. It looks beautiful, however. And I'm totally jealous of your CL scores!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous - In real life there is a lot more green in it. I think it's a really hard color to photograph well. In some light it looks more blue, and others it looks more green. I actually like it because it ISN'T super blue in the room despite how it shows in pictures :)
