A Year In Photos

Fair warning: There are a TON of pictures in this post. Click on any photo to see it bigger.

I finally uploaded all my photos from Project 365! The goal was to take a photo every day, and while I did miss a day here or there, I still consider it a goal well-completed. Some photos were definitely better than others. I was pretty gung-ho in the beginning, but my enthusiasm started to wane by the end of the year. Still, I picked it back up again towards the end and I'm really happy I kept with it.

As predicted, most of my photos were of the dogs. I caught lots of photos of Melanie doing her favorite thing: sleeping.

And the 365 photos were pretty Nemo-heavy. He is the new dog in the house after all. Can't get too many photos of his goofy face.

Old Grandma dog Molly was well represented too, also usually sleeping. She's old! She doesn't exactly get around much. She still had her fair share of fun times though.

I even managed to get a good number of photos of dogs that aren't my own. No dog is safe from my camera!

I also used the opportunity to get more comfortable taking photos of myself. I'm really camera shy and I hate to think that in a few years I'll lament how few photos there are of me. Some photos of "me" are really of the camera, but my face managed to make it into a shot or two as well. (The black and white  photo of me and Nemo is definitely one of my Top 5 favorites.)

I'm so so happy I did this. Even though there were days that I thought picking up the camera was a chore, there were more days that I loved it. I have so many photos from those great days that I loved, that it makes the "ugh, I can't believe I have to take another picture" days all worth it. It's so fun to look at the photos and remember what I was doing when I took a picture.

Although I'm not doing Project 365 a second time around for 2011, I'm definitely taking more photos than I used to. And who knows, maybe when I finally get that DSLR I've been dreaming of, I'll try Project 365 out again.

  1. Photos of puppies are the BEST! What a great experience - and great photos!

  2. Great photo montages - I love that one at the top, Melanie sleeping while sitting up/leaning over the arm of the chair. And that one in the next to the last group of the dog running down the beach, wow! What a great idea - the photo a day project. I bet it ended up being something like a journal of your year, but in pictures instead of words.

  3. I'd probably only take photos of my pets as well. In fact, I think I do almost take pictures of my dog every single day. And I'm not even participating!

Thanks for sharing your year in photos. I'm glad you did it too. Good luck getting that camera!

  5. I like the self-portraits; very creative! And of course, all of the dog photos. We're always taking pictures of other people's dogs too.

  6. Those selfportraits are neat! I wanted to do this project this year but it's almost the end of January and I totally didn't take pictures every day. I'm either going to start up on our anniversary and start 365 days from there, or gear up for next year. I love the idea of scrapping those pictures into one of the Project Life binders or something and have a year of life at a glance without a bunch of time to scrap everything.

  8. i love this project and the way you chose to display your collection-- much more interesting than just a chronological 365, which can be very overwhelming to the casual viewer!
    congrats!
