Remember this thing that I didn't know what to do with?

It sat my garage for most of the summer since I didn't know what to do with it. Finally, I decided to give Kasey's idea a try and I listed it on craigslist for more than I thought I could get.
And I got it!
I bought this dresser for $33 from the thrift store, and sold it for $300 on craigslist. And you thought retail had a big markup!
I know that mid-century modern type pieces are in high demand and this one was in good shape. A little craigslist research revealed that they are being listed for much higher than what I listed this for so it still felt pretty fair (although I admit to feeling a bit like a greedy mcgreedy for listing it so high). I had it listed for about two weeks and just as I was ready to mark it down, someone contacted me who was ready to pay full price. All in all, a good first time selling experience.
And since I added selling something on craigslist to my goals list after Friday's post (along with several other goals), it's another goal done! Booyah!

wow you really made out there!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's great!
ReplyDeleteIt is a gorgeous piece so it's a win-win!
ReplyDeleteGood for you!
ReplyDeleteHoly cannolli! Great job! My cousin used to make quite a decent little income for herself scouring thrift stores for name-brand clothes and other things and selling them online. I wouldn't feel guilty if I were you- after all, you did do the work of discovering it!
ReplyDeleteWow - what a great piece....good for you, this etra cash came help fund some other diy projects :)
ReplyDeleteOMG! How awesome is that! It is a cool piece though. I'll bet the person thought, "Hahaha...I got this for a steal". lol.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this could become a side-job? I love Craigslist. We've done a lot of buying and selling and we've always met such interesting people through it.
ReplyDeleteWOW! That is awesome. Seriously, you could make this a little side business thing... find steals at thrift stores and then fix them up (or not) and sell them on Craigslist. You obviously have a knack for finding gems. I on the other hand would have completely passed this piece by... with no clue of it's value.
ReplyDeleteScore! Now, what are you planning to do with your profit? :)
ReplyDeleteNice turnaround :)

Ha! I love the idea of this becoming a side job - although Mr. T might want to get his garage back eventually right? Nah!! ;)
ReplyDeleteBam! Go you! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, impressive - I may try that!
