Now, a little funny aside with this book: I accidentally got the large print version from the library. That may not seem like a big deal, but it really put me off. I felt like I was reading a children's book, and the book was looooooooooooooong. Like really really long. I know the number of words in the book was the same, but the large print is 900 pages! WTF!
Despite that little snafu though, I enjoyed the book. I still liked the second book better than the third though. This one has a bit of a split focus in the beginning, and at times I found it a little difficult keep track of all the characters. Still, the trilogy wraps everything up in a really great way and the things I didn't necessarily love about the first book started making more sense (the second book helped with this too).

*****SPOILER*****
Does anyone remember what happened with Lisbeth's sister? Am I just having a brain fart and that's why I can't remember? Because if the book didn't explain this, I have a serious gripe. What was the point of her existence? Also, I did not like that Blomkvist found "love" with the police officer. Sorry, not feeling it. I hope they take that part out of the movie entirely, or make her character more prominent and interesting. I like strong female characters, but I didn't feel any special connection or charisma between them. I just didn't feel it. And did anyone else miss Palmgren? I really wish he showed up more in the last book.
Overall, a good and entertaining trilogy. All three books have great plots and the mysteries read like they're made for a movie. These definitely aren't stand alone books, you won't have a clue what's going on in this book without reading the second, but if you're up for a trilogy, this is a good one to check out.

I am reading the Girl Who Played With Fire. Loving the series so far!
ReplyDeleteI finished "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" several months ago and loved it. The other 2 books are on my list.
