Despite the dorky and highly commercial "goddess" reference, this book is very realistic. It's not a gimmick. I don't like gimmicky diet advice and would never recommend it. (I'm not a doctor or expert though so take my advice with a grain of salt.)
This book explains why women should be lifting weights and the exercises we should do while we're at it. It tells you to put down the "Barbie" weights, step away from the treadmill, and get comfortable with dumbbells. The book also provides 6 months worth of workout plans to help you acheive your "goddess" body.
And since the book is oh so helpful with the workout plans, I'm going to try them out. Let's see how I do!

i need to get back on the wagon as well!
ReplyDeleteI've heard a lot about this book. It sounds really interesting. I personally find that weight/strength training is much more effective than tons of cardio. I am also interested in the book The Primal Blueprint. From what I have heard, it emphasizes heavy lifting and lots of slow movement with occasional sprints (to mimic our ancestors who had to sprint to hunt, walked a lot, and had to move heavy things. I don't think it's really anti-carb but it emphasizes eating more protein and fat and less carbs. Sounds pretty interesting.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds really smart. I'm doing ChaLEAN Extreme (basically a girl workout from the p90x people) and she is constantly telling us to lift heavier - we don't have testosterone, so we won't get bulky! "Muscle burns fat!"

Weight lifting is so much more effective than all kinds of cardio. I haven't been doing my weights as much, but when I do it completely helps with my posture and abs--without having to do any crunches. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny! "Yes, thank you, I'm pretty, but I still have a big ole booty"
ReplyDeleteI would love to work out and lift like I used to, but it involves not working on the house every waking moment, so it's not gonna happen right now. Am I obsessed with Home Renovations? Yep. Better that than video games, I guess. Too bad, 'cause I used to have guns! ha
