Reading: Twenties Girl

To lighten up the reading mood, my most recent read is Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella. It's total chic lit so there's no pretense here. You won't learn how to save the world, or get any artsy literary insight, but you'll probably smile and get a chuckle or two out of it.

I've read a few books by Sophie Kinsella and this about on par with her other works. Kooky girl who doesn't quite get it in the beginning manages to make fantastic things happen with her quirky charm, and she hooks a hottie American along the way. Not too shabby.

It takes a bit for the book to pick up. The second half is definitely better than the first, but once it gets going it's easy to keep reading. If you can suspend your disbelief (the main character talks to a ghost throughout the book so this is a must), it's a cute book. I think I annoyed The Hubs a bit when I insisted on staying up late to finish the last 30 pages, but it was worth it. Overall, this book is an easy, light, entertaining read.

  1. I read this for a chick lit book club(which I joined despite the fact that I don't think I had read a single girly book ever) and I thought it was really cute! You're right though.. it does take awhile to pick up, and because I was so attached to the characters it got a little sad near the end.
